New Media - Robots in Business

The term robots no longer surprises us and is so common in this day and age. Growing up and watching shows and moves with robots is usual however, it becoming a real life thing is often ignored. Our businesses are becoming more and more dependent on machines. If you visit the Chase bank across the street from the main entrance in Grand Central, they have removed all tellers and have these interesting machines that do everything a teller would do. I went yesterday and I was able to withdraw $100 in singles. Just a year ago this wasn't possible unless you dealt with a human being. So yes, we get it, machines are taking over, however this is a step closer to having robots run our business. Growing up we would often be told, "by the time you are 25 cars will fly." We clearly aren't there yet. However, with technology becoming more and more advance, machines taking place of people, the creation of functioning robots in our business will happen sooner than we think. The issue with robots is that technology is not perfect and leaving control of ones business with robots isn't the easiest thing to do. The more we attack the hiccups machines and robots will have now, the closer robots will take on manual labor. On reuters.com, there is an article on Rich and Powerful warn robots coming for your jobs, by Olivia Oran. This article was created yesterday and goes into detail and mentions an event called "The future of human kind." She discusses banks and businesses that have slashed jobs because of these mechanical or robots who can do the job. Although there are many jobs robots can't take away, there are still enough that they will take.
